Broadhectare Studies, Regional Queensland
The broadhectare study identifies the location and quantifies the area, timing of development and dwelling yield of larger parcels to house our growing population.
The coverage of the broadhectare study program includes a number of regions outside South East Queensland.
The latest completed broadhectare study is for the Central Queensland region (September 2011). Broadhectare studies have also been completed for Mackay, Isaac, Whitsunday (MIW) region (June 2011) and Townsville City (June 2010). Studies for Wide Bay Burnett (WBB) and Far North Queensland (FNQ) will be released over the next 12 months.
The broadhectare study 2009 for Wide Bay Burnett local government areas is available on the Queensland Government Department of Local Government and Planning website: Broadhectare study 2009, Wide Bay Burnett.
The broadhectare study involves extensive consultation and collaboration with councils, the Urban Development Institute of Australia (Queensland) and major developers. Land identified in the study includes parcels over .25 ha and is classified for either urban residential development or low-density (rural residential) development. Further, this land is categorised into five timeframes, taking into consideration development intentions of major developers, recent lot approvals and, where relevant, future servicing intent for residential development.
