Journey to Work: South East Queensland (Bulletin 11 Census 2006)
Since 1971, the five-yearly national Census of Population and Housing by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has included questions on workplace address and method of travel to work. Combining this information with place of usual residence of employed persons gives statistics on journeys to work within and between local government areas (LGAs). This bulletin provides an overview of broad journey to work patterns in South East Queensland and surrounding areas. Analysis of journey to work data will assist government agencies in planning for future transport needs in this rapidly growing region. All data in this bulletin have been derived from the 2006 Census of Population and Housing.
