Historical Register of Local Government Names, Queensland, 1859 to 2008–09
The Historical Register of Local Government Names spreadsheet provides information on the various name and concordance changes the Government has used since separation from New South Wales. Especially during the 1800s shire name changes were commonplace and often as a result of communities joining together on a handshake.
Even with technology, boundaries present a problem for many jurisdictions. This list is the first of its kind to attempt to map the changes over time.
Note: The spreadsheet includes a number of macros. It is recommended that you save the file to a convenient location on your computer prior to opening it. This will avoid any runtime errors.
