Population projections for SLAs were released as they were produced. This table was updated on 15 May 2012 and contains the full suite of SLA population projections available under the 2011 edition.

These population projections have been prepared using the latest available information at the time of preparation. Complete accuracy of these projections should not be assumed. Variation above or below the figures provided is to be expected, because projections rely on the accuracy of the assumptions used, as well as the quality of data on which they are based. 
 
Explanatory Notes
Areas smaller than a local government area (LGA) have received their share of growth based on information about broadhectare land supply, vacant lots and infill and redevelopment potential, and their expected dwelling densities. This information is generally available for the period covered by each council's current planning schemes. The population projections for sub-LGA levels are therefore less reliable beyond ten years from the first projection year. The projections are for permanent residents, and do not include visitors or temporary residents. SLA population projections are constrained to the Queensland Government population projections by LGA, 2011 edition (medium series). The 30 June 2010 estimated resident population (ERP) figures form the base year of the projections. Information regarding the methodology used in the preparation of the 2011 population projections is available in the Queensland Government population projections background papers.

Revision Notes
Population projections for SLAs of Cairns (R) - Douglas and Clifton in Toowoomba (R) were significantly revised on 12 April 2012.
Population projections for Mackay (R) - Pt A and Mackay (R) - Pt B for the years 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015 were corrected on 22 March 2012.
Population projections for the SLAs in Scenic Rim (R) were significantly revised on 1 March 2012.
