Queensland Government population projections background papers
Queensland Government population projections, 2011 edition, have been released at the Queensland, statistical division (SD) and local government area (LGA) level. The three papers presented here provide information on the research processes, methodology and assumptions used to produce the projections.
The first paper, Background research, was presented to the Queensland Government population projections advisory group to assist with determining the population projection assumptions.
The second paper, Methodology, assumptions and scenarios for Queensland, introduces the key aspects of the projections methodology and the underlying assumptions about population growth at the state and SD level. It also provides some alternative population projection scenarios and assesses the historical significance of recent trends.
The third paper, Methodology for local government areas, provides details of the process employed by the Office of Economic and Statistical Research (OESR), during 2010 and early 2011, to produces the 2011 edition of Queensland Government population projections for LGAs.
