The NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research has developed a reoffending database based on linking records for criminal court appearances for the same individual. This presentation gives an overview of the database design and describes the process used for matching records. Many problems have been encountered during the development of the database. Some examples of these problems and the methods developed to resolve them are described. Uses of the database are illustrated with some sample output.
