Queensland State and Regional Household Projections 2001 to 2026

The Queensland State and Regional Household Projections are a set of household projections for the state and statistical divisions to the year 2026. They are intended as a resource for planners and to complement the projections of regional population released previously and have been produced as part of collaborative research with the Queensland Centre for Population Research at the University of Queensland . The household projections reported in the latest publication are an update of previous household projections based on 2003 forecasts reported in an earlier research note (Wilson 2005).

The regional household projections provide a good approximation of the projected number of dwellings at the statistical division and state levels and provide a breakdown of specific household types. Household type provides valuable information in regard to the types of dwellings that may be required over the next 25 years. For example, lone-person households and couple families with children are likely to require different types of dwellings.
