| (a) A road traffic crash is a crash reported to the police which resulted from the movement of at least one road vehicle on a road and involving death or injury to any person, or property damage. Note also that to qualify as valid, crashes must meet the following criteria: |
| • the crash occurs on a public road, and |
| • a person is killed or injured, or |
| • the value of the property damage is: |
| $2500 to property other than vehicles (after 1 December 1999) |
| $2500 damage to vehicle and property (after 1 December 1991 and prior to 1 December 1999) |
| The value of property damage is greater than $1000 (prior to December 1991) or; |
| • at least one vehicle was towed away. |
| (b) Killed instantly or died within 30 days of receiving injuries. |
