Queensland State and Regional Household and Dwelling Projections 2006 to 2031 (archived)

The content does not necessarily represent the current view of Queensland Treasury or the Queensland Government.

The 2008 release of household and dwelling projections for Queensland and Statistical Divisions is based on 2006 census data and the Queensland Government population projections (2008 edition, medium series), and replaces the household projections published in 2006 and 2005. These projections are intended as a resource for planners and have been produced as part of a collaborative research agreement between the Office of Economic and Statistical Research (Queensland Treasury) and the Queensland Centre for Population Research at the University of Queensland.

The regional household projections provide a good approximation of the projected number of dwellings at the statistical division and state levels and provide a breakdown of specific household types. Household type provides valuable information in regard to the types of dwellings that may be required over the next 25 years. For example, lone-person households and couple families with children are likely to require different types of dwellings.
