Public Value
OESR adds value for the citizens of Queensland by providing statistical, demographic and economic data and advice as objective and practical evidence which can be used in policy and decision making. Our services include:
- surveys;
- statistical analysis and advice;
- information services;
- data management;
- economic modelling and analysis;
- demographic planning services and urban development and housing monitoring, analysis and advice.

Authorising Environment
OESR is a portfolio office of Queensland Treasury, and collects statistics under the Statistical Returns Act. This authorising environment gives OESR a charter to collect and disseminate statistics as well as provide statistical, economic and demographic advice.
Capabilities
OESR has a wide range of capabilities. These capabilities are evident in our skilled staff who have specialist knowledge across a wide range of disciplines including survey design, statistical analysis, mathematics, economics, modelling, demography, forecasting and data management. Staff are ably supported by innovative information systems and models.
Priorities
OESR’s priorities over the next year include:
- Strengthen and advance our existing statistical, demographic and economic capabilities;
- Support significant statistical requirements for Towards Q2 and Council of Australian Government reporting.
