Welcome to the Office of Economic and Statistical Research web site. This site contains a wide range of demographic, economic and social data relating to the state of Queensland, as well as information about using statistics and the services we provide.
When collecting, analysing or disseminating statistics it is vital that standardised regional boundaries are used. The Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) is a hierarchical geographical classification, defined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). OESR has developed a range of on-line (Google, PDF and KML) maps presenting these various geographies within Queensland. These maps include Statistical Divisions and Local Government Areas.
This bulletin contains information on internet access in Queensland. The data come from the 2006 Census of Population and Housing by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and also, where indicated, the May 2007 Queensland Household Survey (QHS 2007) by the Office of Economic and Statistical Research (OESR). The Census asked people if the internet could be accessed at their dwelling.
This bulletin contains information on older Queenslanders and covers demography, religion, education, employment, voluntary work, and assistance. Most of the data come from the 2006 Census of Population and Housing carried out by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). However, the bulletin also draws on the Queensland Government’s population projections, and other ABS publications.
