KML Information
KML (previously known as Keyhole Markup Language) is an XML-based schema for defining geographical information. The standard is defined in the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) OpenGIS® KML Encoding Standard (OGC KML).
KML files are commonly used to define the location (point or polygon) of a particular location of interest on the earth's surface.
OESR has made various KML files available for download on its site. The files are usually made available to assist with interpretation of statistical data as the kml file may contain the polygon bounds of the data's region.
KML files can be used in various mapping software packages and can be included in various online applications. To find out more information about KML files, and how they may be used, you may wish to search for this topic in your favourite search engine.
